Ethan Chue
Chief Executive Officer
Ethan has helped numerous business owners, entrepreneurs and senior executives set up and manage their family succession plans in the past 29 years. He founded Family Succession Advisors to provide families with objective and unbiased advice and to guide them through the complexities of putting their family business and estate succession plans in order, including the conceptualisation of family governance frameworks, drafting of family constitutions and the establishment of trusts, foundations and other implementation strategies.
Having witnessed how families have delayed their planning (due to either procrastination or being confused by technical jargon) and as a result been split apart due to disagreements over family wealth, Ethan strongly believes that every family will benefit from having an independent trusted advisor to guide them and explain the family's options in a simpler manner.
Ethan is also passionate about helping our next generation develop and fulfill their potential, and serves as a mentor and coach to NextGen business owners and family members.
Ethan started his career in 1995 as a tax advisor in a public accounting firm advising corporations and families. Prior to founding Family Succession Advisors, Ethan led Wealth Planning teams in international banking groups including Credit Suisse, Sarasin, and Rothschild. He also set up and was the Chief Executive Officer of licensed Singapore trust companies for JP Morgan and Standard Chartered Bank.
Ethan is a Chartered Accountant, CA (Singapore), a qualified Trust and Estate Practitioner (TEP), and a Singapore Mediation Centre (SMC) Accredited Mediator. He also lectures at programmes conducted by the Wealth Management Institute (WMI) and speaks at industry conferences.
Michael Low
Senior Advisor
In a career spanning close to 2 decades, Michael has seen many families grapple with the complexities of succession and estate planning. Having worked with families in multiple jurisdictions in helping them to establish and manage their succession planning structures, Michael brings this experience into his role as Senior Advisor at Family Succession Advisors.
Michael took a break from his banking career to pursue an MA in Theological Studies at Regent College, Vancouver, where he specialized in his area of passion, in Marketplace Theology. It was during his studies that he also came to recognize the importance of the transfer, not only of financial assets, but also of family ethics and values, which he has now come to call “generational equity”. Michael is especially passionate about this, in his role with Family Succession Advisors, to help families recognize that each generation brings their own unique gifts and contributions to the family table.
Michael is an accredited Soundwave practitioner, a certified Belbin© Teams coach, and also an accredited SLII® trainer. Having these additional skills in his toolbox allows Michael a flexibility in his approach to succession planning and wealth management that is a unique offering to Family Succession Advisors.
Michael started his career as a litigation lawyer before moving on to private banking, where he spent almost 15 years across three international banks, working with high- and ultra-high net worth families in the area of global estate and succession planning. Michael headed the Trust Management Team at Credit Suisse Trust (Singapore), and also held the role of Head of Fiduciary Services, Asia for Bank J Safra Sarasin, where he was responsible for obtaining the trust business licence in Singapore. In addition to his experience in the banking world, Michael has also served as the Youth and Young Adult pastor in his church for a season, and loves interacting with young people. Michael also now serves as an adjunct lecturer at the Biblical Graduate School of Theology in Singapore.
